Every Other Way – BT

Anyone here ever heard of a man named Brian Transeau?
Oh, he’s just the Father of Trance, defining the genre since the release of his first studio album, Ima, in 1996. Odds are, you’ve heard him, and just don’t know it, whether as songs featured in American Pie, Win a Date with Tod Hamilton, Gone In Sixty Seconds, Domino, or complete scores such as in Stealth and Monster. Hell, that Pixar short with the redneck truck from Cars in Tokyo? That’s his song. He’s also responsible for producing the one and only Nsync song I ever liked (and I hate Nsync) — Dirty Pop.
Now, I’m bringing all this up now, not only because his last album This Binary Universe is my absolute favorite album of all time and because I am totally and irrevocably in love with his music, but because yet another mind-blowing album is on its way.
He’s already released the first single from it, The Rose of Jericho, which is amazing (and for some reason makes me think of rain), and has just now, minutes ago (as of me currently typing), released about six minutes worth of another song on the album, Every Other Way.

Now, as a powerful music–>visual synesthete (which means, for those who don’t want to look it up, that I see lights and colors whenever I hear sounds, but especially music. for me it’s like watching a star nebula), this song is beautiful to me both in visuals and sound. It literally fills me with a powerful feeling that I can’t describe and don’t know the name for, but I would compare it to the same feeling I get when I stare out at the sea, or watch a dazzling sunset, or gaze upon mountains riddled with pure white snow, or just wander in a beautiful forest with lush greenery and babbling brooks. I suppose you could say it’s like a feeling of majestic wonder, but it’s more than that, because all of these things are beautiful on so many levels.
If the rest of the album is like Every Other Way, someone is going to have to keep it away from me because I will go into a serious music-junkie phase. This song has already become my favorite song of all time, and I haven’t even heard the whole thing. At the moment, I am constantly replaying it as soon as it reaches the end of the sample.
If I were to describe what this song looks like in my head, I would say it’s like walking through a starry night on a plane of ice with waves of light and an aurora borealis weaving all around you, drops of silver, and the waves of light are sweeping you away, carrying you further and further…
…but that would be a serious understatement and doesn’t nearly do the song justice to what it does in my head. Not to mention my ears.

So do your ears a favor, and go listen to Every Other Way by BT. Right now.
